My first post on planning a wedding

Published by dteobnsy at 5:19 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Hi.  This blog is all about planning a wedding and just how much work goes into it!  Hopefully by writing this, it will keep me slightly sane.

Well.  I better start at the beginning.  I have been with my partner for 4 1/2 years now.  We got engaged in February 2007 whilst we were on holiday in Toulouse (we had gone there as my xmas present to him to watch Oasis in concert).  The engagement was amazing!  I never expected it, we went out for a lovely meal and he got down on one knee and proposed!

That night we also became pregnant with our first child!

9 months later Lara was born and as I didnt want to walk down an aisle pregnant, the wedding was put on hold.  We then decided to have another baby so 18 months later our second child Lucas was born!  Now we have three children (my partner has a 7 year old from a previous relationship) it is time to plan the wedding.

I can’t believe how much it is going to cost!  So, whilst I am rubbish with money my new years resolution was to save save save.  So far, I have saved £200.  Not bad for only a couple of months and I have just returned to work after maternity leave.

We have decided to start buying things now so that we can spread the cost - we are planning on getting married in September 2010 so that gives us about 18 months.

So far we have bought a few things such as the garter, cufflinks, mine and my daughters jewellery and balloons for the reception.  Not much but it is a start and as my friend told me, it is the littlest thing you will forget until it is too late, so hopefully we will remember everything by starting so early.

Well that is the basics of my planning so far and I will keep you updated when we buy new things, receive new things and ultimately, book the venue!!!

Have fun planning your wedding! Have you decided where to have your wedding?

Keep your eye out for great sales. I bought my dress at Alfred Angelo’s for about $300. It was perfect for me. I had been to a ton of shops and didn’t like any of the dresses.

    Good luck!
